Ember and Insight Counseling FAQ
Before You Get Started
Do I have to be in a relationship to work with you?
Not at all. I work with both individuals and couples. Many clients come in on their own to better understand their patterns, improve communication, and create more meaningful connection in their relationships.
How is your approach different from other therapists?
My work is active and focused on helping things actually change, not just talking about what’s happening.
We look at the patterns underneath your experiences, how you communicate, respond, and protect yourself and begin to shift them in real time. If ADHD or trauma is part of your story, we integrate that directly so it’s not working against you.
Do you work with ADHD or neurodivergent clients?
Yes. I’m a Certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider, and I specialize in how ADHD impacts relationships, communication, and emotional regulation. Therapy is adapted to how your brain works, with practical strategies that are realistic and sustainable.
What is EMDR and how does it help?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach that helps process and resolve past experiences that are still impacting you. Rather than just talking about what happened, EMDR helps your brain reprocess those experiences so they feel less overwhelming and no longer shape how you respond in the present, especially in relationships.
Do you work with religious trauma?
Yes. I specialize in working with individuals who are healing from religious trauma or navigating life after high-demand religious environments. This includes processing guilt, identity shifts, relationship changes, and rebuilding trust in yourself.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals and what you’re working through. Some clients come in for focused, shorter-term work, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper pattern change. We’ll talk about what makes the most sense for you during our initial sessions.
Do you offer longer or intensive therapy sessions?
Yes. In addition to 50-minute individual sessions and 60-minute couples sessions, I offer extended intensive sessions (90 minutes, 2 hours, or 3 hours) for clients who want more focused, in-depth work. These sessions can be especially helpful if you’re wanting to move through a specific issue more efficiently, feel limited by shorter sessions, or are doing deeper work such as trauma processing or complex relationship dynamics. For couples, extended sessions allow more time to work through communication patterns and conflict cycles in one sitting. For individuals, they can support deeper clarity, processing, and momentum. We can talk about whether an extended session would be a good fit for you during your consultation.
What are your fees?
My fee is $125 per 50-minute individual session, $160 for a 60-minute couples session, $225 for a 90-minute intensive session, $300 for a 2 hour intensive session, and $450 for a 3 hour intensive session. I offer a limited number of reduced-fee spots for financial hardship based on availability. I also accept HSA/FSA cards and can provide superbills for clients to submit to their insurance directly.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, which allows for greater privacy and flexibility in your care. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a super-bill for possible reimbursement.
How do I get started?
The first step is scheduling a brief consultation. This gives us a chance to talk about what’s been going on and see if working together feels like a good fit.
