Sarah Gale (She/Her), MS, CMHC, LAC
I’m a relationship therapist based in Arizona, and the founder of Ember & Insight Counseling.
I specialize in helping individuals and couples move beyond insight and create real change in how they connect, communicate, and relate.
My work also focuses on ADHD and neurodivergence in relationships, as well as trauma, including religious trauma and high-demand religious experiences. I integrate relational and attachment-based therapy, EMDR, and a trauma-informed approach to support meaningful, lasting change.
My practice is sex-positive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and neurodivergent-affirming. All parts of you are welcome here.
I believe healing and growth happen through connection, both in the relationship we have with ourself and in the relationships we have with others.
Many of the clients I work with are thoughtful, insightful, and deeply self-aware. They’ve tried to understand their patterns, communicate better, and “do the work,” yet still find themselves feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck in the same cycles. Often, the issue isn’t a lack of insight. It’s that the patterns driving those experiences haven’t fully shifted yet.
That's the work we do together.
Sarah Gale's Counseling Approach for Growth and Connection
My approach is rooted in understanding the deeper patterns underneath your experiences, how you learned to relate, protect yourself, communicate, and respond emotionally. These patterns often develop for very good reasons, but over time they can begin to create disconnection, conflict, shame, or difficulty feeling fully seen and understood in relationships.
Therapy with me is active, collaborative, and relational. I'm not simply listening for content, I'm paying attention to the patterns, emotions, nervous system responses, and relational dynamics unfolding beneath the surface. Together, we slow things down, make sense of what's happening, and begin practicing new ways of relating that feel more secure, grounded, and authentic.
I integrate attachment-based therapy, trauma-informed care, EMDR, and ADHD-informed approaches into my work. This allows therapy to be both emotionally attuned and practical, helping you not only understand yourself more deeply, but also create meaningful change in your daily life and relationships.
Above all, I believe therapy should feel both supportive and honest. A space where you can show up fully as yourself, without needing to perform, filter, or have everything figured out and also be gently challenged toward growth and change.
Because meaningful change doesn't happen through perfection. It happens through connection, awareness, and the courage to begin showing up differently.
Certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider
For clients with ADHD or who identify as neurodivergent, I recognize that many traditional approaches to communication, organization, and emotional regulation simply don't fit. Rather than trying to force you into strategies that work against your brain, we work together to better understand your nervous system, reduce shame, and build approaches that are sustainable and supportive.
Somatic EMDR Practitioner
For clients healing from trauma or religious trauma, therapy offers a space to process experiences that may still be shaping your sense of self, relationships, or ability to trust yourself. Using EMDR and a trauma-informed lens, we work to help those experiences feel less overwhelming and less defining of your present life.
Client Experiences
The following reflections are realistic representations from past clients. Much of our work focused on regulation, self-compassion, and creating authentic connection.
"Individual therapy has helped me unpack long-standing patterns that I was carrying into my current relationship. I finally feel more confident in communicating my needs and setting boundaries that actually protect my energy. I was able to recognize where I was holding tension and found more ease in my daily life. It's been exactly what I needed to feel more grounded and present."
Individual Therapy Client
"Working with Ember and Insight has been transformative. As a late-diagnosed adult with ADHD, I finally feel like I have the tools and affirmation I need to better navigate my relationships and connect more authentically."
Late Diagnosed ADHD Client
"Finding therapy that actually understood our dynamic as a neurodivergent couple changed everything for us. We felt seen and validated in a way we hadn't before, and we finally learned concrete communication tools that work with our brains instead of against them. We feel so much more connected now and less stuck in those same repetitive fights that used to drain us. It's grounded our relationship in a very real, supportive way."
ADHD Informed Couples Therapy Client
“Choosing a couples therapy intensive was the most hopeful decision we made for our relationship. Having several 2 hour sessions allowed us to finally break through long-standing patterns and communicate with a clarity we haven't felt in years. Instead of waiting through months of weekly appointments, we found deep reconnection and a sense of possibility in a short period of time."
Couple Therapy Intensive Client
"Doing an EMDR therapy intensive was the breakthrough I didn’t know was possible. The 2 hour sessions helped me move through stuck traumatic memories much faster than months of bi-weekly therapy could have. I finally feel reconnected with my body and grounded in the present moment. Most importantly, I am beginning to trust my own intuition again after years of high-demand religion. It feels like I’ve finally come home to myself."
